The American Heart Association PALS Update course is for healthcare providers that respond to emergencies in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units.
Heartcode® PALS is American Heart Association’s blended learning option. You essentially do it in two parts.
Completed online where you go through online simulations and complete the written test.
Is completed in the classroom. It consists of manikin practice and skills testing.

No! The PALS Update class is for students who have a current PALS card. If you are taking PALS for the first time you need to complete the HeartCode® PALS or PALS Provider course.
Yes! You can renew your BLS with any PALS class. All you need to do is select BLS Add-On when you are registering for the PALS class.
You can expect your certification to be emailed to you at the end of the day you took your class.
Classes usually last 4-6 hours (not including breaks). This timeframe varies based off the number of students in class and clinical experience. If you’re looking for a flexible more expedited way to get or renew your PALS certification, you can complete the HeartCode® PALS course.

It’s currently recommended that a PALS certification be renewed every two years. However, some employers require more up-to-date training, which can be as often as every three months.
